Important Notes

Surface: International and PKL matches are played on a mat surface. The court is typically laid over a mat of 3cm cushion on a wooden or wooden-effect base to protect players who are tackled to the ground.

Soil Kabaddi: Traditional kabaddi is played on a mud/soil surface outdoors, particularly in village-level and state tournaments in Maharashtra, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu. Dimensions remain the same but the surface is levelled soil.

Line Width: All lines should be 5cm wide and are considered part of the playing area — standing on the line counts as being inside the court.

Bonus Line Rule: The bonus line only applies if 6 or more defenders are on the court. If fewer than 6 defenders remain, crossing the bonus line does not award a bonus point.

Lobby Rule: The lobbies become active zones only after the raider touches a defender. Before a touch, defenders and raiders are restricted from entering the lobby area.

What are Official Kabaddi Court Dimensions?

The kabaddi court is a rectangular playing surface divided into two equal halves by a mid-line, with several marked lines that define scoring zones. The standard senior men's court measures 13 metres in length and 10 metres in width — the same dimensions used in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) matches and international tournaments including the Asian Games. The women's court is slightly smaller at 12 × 8 metres. All lines on the court are 3–5 cm wide and are considered part of the playing area.

The two most critical lines inside each half are the baulk line and the bonus line. The baulk line sits 3.75 metres from the mid-line in the men's format — the raider must cross this line with at least one foot (while the other is in the air) to make the raid valid. The bonus line is located 1 metre beyond the baulk line (4.75 metres from the mid-line) and, when active (6+ defenders on court), awards an extra point for crossing it. On each side of the court is a 1-metre-wide lobby strip that is out of bounds unless a struggle between the raider and a defender has already begun.

PKL and international matches are played on a mat surface — typically a synthetic rubber and EVA foam mat of 25–40mm thickness — laid over proper carpeting on a hard floor. Traditional kabaddi played at village and state level in India (particularly in Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, and Tamil Nadu) uses a levelled mud or soil surface, which gives it a very different physical character. The court dimensions remain the same across both surfaces.

How to Use This Calculator

Formula:Baulk line is 3.75m from mid-line (men); bonus line is 1m beyond baulk line = 4.75m from mid-line. Lobby (1m each side) is active only after a struggle begins.
1
Format: Select the playing format — Senior Men (PKL/international), Women, Beach, or Indoor Mat — to see the correct official dimensions.
2
Unit: Toggle between metres and feet. All AKFI and AKF official specifications are published in metres.
3
Baulk Line: The key raiding threshold — the raider must cross this line to make the raid valid. Distance is measured from the mid-line toward the end line in each half.
4
Bonus Line: Located between the baulk line and the end line. Active only when 6 or more defenders remain on court. Crossing it earns 1 extra point.
