What is the Cricket Powerplay?
The powerplay is one of the most decisive phases in limited-overs cricket. During powerplay overs, fielding restrictions mean only two fielders are allowed outside the 30-yard circle โ giving batters a significant advantage and rewarding aggressive batting. How a team bats (or bowls) in the powerplay often sets the tone for the entire innings.
In T20 cricket, the powerplay covers the first 6 overs. In ODIs, it spans the first 10 overs. In T10, it's the first 4 overs. The run rate achieved during this window directly shapes the pressure on the middle order, the bowling strategy for the second innings, and the final score.
This calculator takes your powerplay runs, overs bowled, and wickets lost to give you the powerplay run rate, a rating against format benchmarks, and a projected total score for the full innings.
