Net Run Rate Calculator
Calculate NRR for tournament standings and rankings
What is Net Run Rate (NRR)?
Net Run Rate (NRR) is the tiebreaker metric used in cricket tournament group stages โ most famously in the IPL points table. When two teams are level on points, the team with the better (higher) NRR advances. Understanding NRR can directly determine whether your team qualifies for the playoffs.
NRR is calculated by subtracting a team's average runs conceded per over from their average runs scored per over โ across all matches in the tournament. A positive NRR means the team is scoring faster than they are conceding. A negative NRR means the opposite.
The key insight most fans miss: NRR is cumulative across all group matches. Winning by a big margin improves NRR significantly. Winning narrowly does little. Losing heavily damages it badly.
