Anderlecht Beat Jagiellonia 3-0 Behind Winkler and Onia Seke Goals
Anderlecht beat Jagiellonia Białystok 3-0 away at the Chorten Arena on Thursday, October 22, in matchday 3 of the Europa League, with second-half goals from Marten Winkler and substitute Jayden Onia Seke putting the result beyond doubt after an early opener from Mihajlo Cvetković.
Anderlecht struck first inside the opening half hour. Mihajlo Cvetković opened the scoring in the 21st minute to give the Belgian side an early lead that they would not relinquish. The match settled into a more even contest for the remainder of the first half, with both sides picking up bookings, including Jagiellonia's Rodrigo Conceição in first-half stoppage time and Anderlecht's Thelo Aasgaard shortly after the restart, before Jagiellonia made an early change, replacing Hampus Finndell with Ousmane Sow at the break.
Both managers made a flurry of substitutions around the hour mark, with Jagiellonia bringing on Aleksandar Ćirković and Jeremy Agbonifo for Kajetan Szmyt and Kamil Jóźwiak, while Anderlecht responded with Enric Llansana and Jayden Onia Seke replacing Lukáš Ambros and Tristan Degreef. The changes paid off for the visitors. Marten Winkler extended Anderlecht's lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute, before Onia Seke, on for less than 20 minutes, made it 3-0 in the 80th minute to put the result beyond any doubt. Onia Seke picked up a booking of his own moments after his goal.
Jagiellonia continued to rotate their side late on, bringing on Taras Romańczuk and Jesús Imaz, while Anderlecht also made further changes, with Marco Kana, Adriano Bertaccini and Oliver Antman all introduced from the bench in the closing stages as the Belgian side saw out a comfortable away win in Poland.
The result gives Anderlecht a much-needed win on the road in the league phase, having found results harder to come by away from home earlier in the season, while Jagiellonia will look to regroup after a chastening night in front of their own supporters at the Chorten Arena.
