Aston Villa Agree €55m Deal in Principle for PSG Winger Ibrahim Mbaye

Aston Villa have reached a €55 million agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign 18-year-old winger Ibrahim Mbaye, adding another major piece to Unai Emery's reshaped attack.

The deal comes just hours after Villa lost out on Rafael Leao, who instead gave Galatasaray the green light for a move. According to reports, the relationship between Villa owner Nassef Sawiris and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi proved decisive in getting the transfer over the line, with Liverpool having stepped aside from the race earlier in the window due to the cost involved.

Mbaye holds the record as the youngest player to start a competitive match for PSG and has since become a regular for Senegal, having switched allegiance from France. He started three of Senegal's four matches at this year's World Cup, scoring against France in the opening fixture to become the youngest African player to score at a World Cup.

The move would be Villa's ninth signing of a hugely active summer, arriving alongside Nicolas Jackson's move from Chelsea as the club looks to replace the goals and creativity lost with Morgan Rogers' British-record £117m departure to Chelsea and Ollie Watkins' expected exit to Al-Hilal.
