Rabiot Inspires AC Milan to 3-2 Win Over Atalanta as Amorim Stays Unbeaten in Serie A

AC Milan beat Atalanta 3-2 at the San Siro on Sunday, October 18, in Serie A. Adrien Rabiot was the star of the night. The win moves Milan up to fourth in the table and keeps coach Ruben Amorim unbeaten in his first seven league games in charge.

Milan took the lead in the 24th minute. Atalanta defender Thomas Kristensen handled the ball in the box and Gonçalo Ramos scored from the penalty spot. Christian Pulisic had the ball in the net earlier, in the 13th minute, but he was offside when Ramos flicked on a low cross from Samuel Chukwueze.

Rabiot doubled the lead just before half-time. In the 43rd minute, Diego Moreira found him at the edge of the area, and he cut inside and drilled a low shot into the bottom corner. It was his fourth league goal of the season.

Milan were awarded another penalty in the 56th minute, after VAR showed that Kristensen had handled Rabiot's volley. This time, Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi saved Ramos's spot-kick, but Milan still scored from the resulting corner. In the 57th minute, Mario Gila headed in at the back post from Rabiot's flick-on to make it 3-0.

Milan then switched off, and Atalanta took advantage. They hit the post through Nikola Krstović, and Gianluca Gaetano scored in the 66th minute. Krstović made it 3-2 in the 81st minute. Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan also had to make a good save, using his legs to parry a one-on-one effort from Davide Zappacosta at the near post.

Atalanta were forced into a change when Sead Kolašinac was injured and replaced by Obrić. Milan had 56% of the possession and completed 600 passes to Atalanta's 464.

Amorim said after the match that Milan could have avoided conceding the two goals. Milan played with a 3-4-2-1 formation, with Rabiot and Pulisic behind Ramos.
