Smriti Mandhana Becomes 2nd-Highest Run-Scorer in Women's Cricket, Deepti Sharma Plays 150th T20I

Smriti Mandhana etched her name further into the record books during India's Women's Asia Cup 2026 clash against Thailand in Dubai, becoming the second-highest run-scorer in women's international cricket, overtaking New Zealand great Suzie Bates.

Mandhana needed just four runs to move past Bates' tally and reached the milestone with a boundary off Thailand spinner Phannita Maya in the second ball of India's innings. She was eventually run out for 19 off 10 balls, but the knock was enough to take her career international tally to 10,756 runs — now only behind former India captain Mithali Raj, who leads the all-time list with 10,868.

The match also marked a special milestone for Deepti Sharma, who made her 150th T20I appearance — becoming only the third Indian woman after Harmanpreet Kaur (202) and Mandhana (171) to reach the landmark, and the 12th player globally to do so.

Despite an explosive 64 off 36 balls from Shafali Verma, India were restricted to 159/9 by a disciplined Thailand bowling attack led by Suleeporn Laomi and Sunida Chaturongrattana, after India had raced to 108/2 at one stage before a late collapse.
