Newcastle Beat Crystal Palace 2-0

Newcastle beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at Selhurst Park on October 25, with second-half goals from Will Osula and Harvey Barnes.

The first half was quiet. Newcastle took control just after the break. Just over a minute into the second half, Jacob Murphy whipped in a cross from the right. Will Osula prodded it home to give the visitors the lead. It was a big moment for the Danish forward, who was starting for the first time since the opening day of the season.

Newcastle nearly scored again soon after. Joelinton played a through ball to Joe Willock, who finished across goalkeeper Walter Benitez. A VAR check then showed that Willock was fractionally offside, so the goal was ruled out.

The second goal arrived just before the hour mark. Harvey Barnes swept the ball home from inside the box after a cutback from Amar Dedic. Newcastle made their changes with 13 minutes to go, bringing on Yoane Wissa, Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey. They held firm to the end for a deserved win.

The result leaves Palace boss Pierre Sage under more pressure. His side made a poor start to the second half, and boos rang around Selhurst Park at the final whistle. Palace next visit Tottenham on Saturday, October 31. Newcastle host Everton on Monday, November 2.

Elsewhere in the Premier League on Sunday, Hull City and Brentford drew 1-1 at the MKM Stadium. Oli McBurnie put Hull ahead from the penalty spot in the 24th minute. Brentford had the better of the second half and equalised in the 63rd minute. Igor Thiago fought off a close marker to prod the ball to Dango Ouattara, who scored from close range.

The draw extended Hull's winless run in the league to six games. Hull are 10th with 10 points, while Brentford are sixth on 11 points from eight games. Brentford had 58 per cent of the ball and 13 shots to Hull's 11. Hull host Ipswich and Brentford host Nottingham Forest next on Saturday, October 31.
