Lino's Second-Half Brace Seals Brazil's 4-0 Win Over India in Kolkata

Brazil beat India 4-0 in their first-ever match on Indian soil. The friendly was played at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday in front of 51,402 fans.

India held their own for the first 27 minutes. Manvir Singh and Ryan Williams troubled Brazil on the counter-attack. But Brazil broke through before half-time. Estevao scored in the 28th minute. Pedro added a second just before the break.

India lost possession cheaply in the 58th minute. Bijoy Varghese's pass was intercepted inside India's defensive third. Substitute Samuel Lino pounced and curled a fine finish into the bottom corner. Lino completed his brace deep into stoppage time with a low drive past goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu's replacement.

Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti praised India's effort despite the scoreline. "They defended, they were organised, they tried to play counter-attack. I think they played a good game," Ancelotti said after the match. He fielded a strong lineup featuring Vinicius Jr, Marquinhos and Estevao from the start, using the friendly to assess his squad depth ahead of future fixtures.
