Mohun Bagan Beat Chennaiyin 1-0 With Late Manvir Singh Goal
Mohun Bagan Super Giant beat Chennaiyin FC 1-0 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Monday, October 26, in the ISL 2026-27 season. Manvir Singh scored the only goal in the 85th minute. It was Mohun Bagan's first home match and first home win of the season.
The game stayed goalless for 84 minutes. Both goalkeepers played a big part in that. Chennaiyin's Mohammad Nawaz made three saves in the first half, as Mohun Bagan looked for chances on the counter. At the other end, Vishal Kaith made several key stops to keep Chennaiyin out. Chennaiyin had their chances too, but they were wasteful.
The goal came from a well-worked move down the flank. Liston Colaço sent a cross into the box. Manvir was in the right place and scored from close range, with the ball going in off his chest. It was enough to separate the two sides.
Chennaiyin tried to find an equaliser in the closing minutes. Mohun Bagan held on to take all three points.
The result takes Mohun Bagan to six points from three matches, and they sit fifth in the table. They lost their opening match 1-0 to NorthEast United. They then beat Sporting Club Delhi 2-1.
Chennaiyin are still waiting for their first win. They have one point from three games, after drawing with FC Goa and then suffering two defeats. Clifford Miranda's side will need to be sharper in front of goal.
Both sides are former two-time ISL champions. Mohun Bagan also won the 2026 IFA Shield earlier this year. They have a good record against Chennaiyin. They won 2-0 at Salt Lake in February 2026, with goals from Jamie Maclaren and Dimitri Petratos. Across 12 ISL meetings, Mohun Bagan have won six, Chennaiyin have won two, and four have been drawn.
