India Win Women's 4x400m Relay Gold, Sixth of the Games

India won the women's 4x400m relay at the Asian Games in Nagoya on Tuesday, taking the country's sixth gold of the Games and its first athletics relay gold of the meet.

Bahrain took silver and China bronze, with India getting the better of both over four legs.

The win comes two days after India's mixed 4x400m relay team took silver behind Bahrain, so this is a reversal of that result with the women's-only quartet going one better. It adds to India's growing athletics medal count at these Games, which already included medals in the 400m, 400m hurdles, high jump, long jump, javelin, marathon, decathlon, shot put, pole vault, steeplechase and 10,000m before Tuesday's finals.

India's other gold medals at these Games have come in kabaddi (men's and women's), the 10m air pistol mixed team in shooting, and Neeru Dhanda's individual trap title. The relay gold takes India's overall tally to six golds, 21 silvers and 25 bronzes.
