How Does the Futsal Accumulated Fouls Rule Work?
Futsal keeps a running count of each team's accumulated fouls in each half. Once a team has committed five accumulated fouls in a half, every further foul of that kind gives the opposing team a direct free kick without a defensive wall. The count resets at the start of the second half.
This tracker lets you add fouls for each team and shows the count against the limit, how many fouls remain before the limit is reached, and when the next foul will give the opponent a free kick with no wall, so a coach, scorer or player can keep track from the bench.
How to Use This Tracker
Why Tracking Fouls Changes How Futsal Is Played
Because the sixth accumulated foul gives the opponent an uncontested direct free kick, teams close to the limit defend differently: they avoid tackles, drop off and rely on positioning rather than challenging. Players on a team already on four or five fouls adjust their risk immediately.
Coaches also use the count to time substitutions and tactical changes. A team with five fouls late in a half may switch to a more conservative shape or use a timeout, because a single reckless challenge can concede a near-certain scoring chance.
?Frequently Asked Questions
Each team may commit five accumulated fouls in each half without penalty. From the sixth accumulated foul in that half, the opposing team is awarded a direct free kick without a defensive wall.
Accumulated fouls are the fouls that are penalised with a direct free kick, such as kicking or tripping an opponent, charging or pushing, and handball. Offences punished by an indirect free kick, such as dangerous play, do not add to the count.
If the foul happened in the offending team's half or in the penalty area zone defined in the laws, the kick can be taken from the second penalty mark, 10 metres from the goal line, or from the place of the offence. The exact location rules are set in the Laws of the Game for Futsal.
Yes. The count of each team resets to zero at the start of the second half. In extra time, the fouls of the second half carry over and do not reset.
A foul inside the penalty area is penalised with a penalty kick, not a free kick, but it still counts as an accumulated foul for the team in the half. The penalty is not an extra count; the foul adds one to the total.
No. It is a manual aid. Counts live only on the page and reset when you reset or reload, so use the official match sheet for the record.
