Marco Jansen Rises to No. 1 in ICC Test Bowling and All-Rounder Rankings
Marco Jansen has climbed to the top of the ICC Men's Test bowling rankings. He jumped from sixth to first. His new rating is 876 points. The South African also became the No. 1-ranked Test all-rounder. He moved up from second with a rating of 451, overtaking India's Ravindra Jadeja, who had held the top all-rounder spot.
Jansen's bowling rise pushed him past Mitchell Starc, who dropped to a share of second place with Matt Henry at 861 rating points each. Ollie Robinson sits fourth, and Jasprit Bumrah is fifth. Further down the list, Scott Boland jumped from ninth to sixth. Mohammed Siraj entered the top 15 for the first time, landing at No. 15 with a rating of 696. Simon Harmer dropped out of the bowling list to make room.
Harmer did not stay out of the rankings for long, though. He returned to the all-rounder top 15 at No. 8, with a rating of 228. That move pushed Kyle Jamieson out of the list entirely. Jansen's all-rounder rating of 451 now gives him clear daylight over Jadeja's 422. Mehidy Hasan Miraz held his ground at third, and Wiaan Mulder stayed fourth.
Jansen's twin rise comes after a strong run with both bat and ball for South Africa in recent Tests. He has combined genuine pace with the ball and lower-order hitting with the bat, a mix that has made him increasingly difficult for opponents to plan around. South Africa currently sit second in the ICC Men's Test team rankings, behind Australia.
The shake-up at the top of both lists reflects a period of change in world Test cricket, with South Africa's bowling and all-round strength playing a growing role in their results. Jansen's rise to the top of two separate rankings tables in the same update underlines how central he has become to that success.
