Sarfaraz Khan Named as Sai Sudharsan's Replacement for Sri Lanka Test Series
Sarfaraz Khan has been named as the replacement for Sai Sudharsan in India's Test squad for the two-match series against Sri Lanka, after Sudharsan was ruled out with a toe injury.
Sudharsan had been in prime form heading into the tour, having smashed back-to-back centuries for India A against Sri Lanka A last month, but a stress reaction in his right big toe forced him out before the squad even departed for Sri Lanka.
Sarfaraz now walks into a strong middle-order pool alongside KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal as the selectors weigh up options for the No. 3 slot. Known for his aggressive strokeplay and hunger for big domestic scores, Sarfaraz has waited patiently for a fresh opportunity at the Test level and will look to make the most of it if handed a chance in the XI.
India begin the series on August 15 at the Galle International Stadium, before moving to the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo for the second Test from August 23.
