Shubman Gill Cleared Fit for Sri Lanka Tests After Finger Injury Scare
India captain Shubman Gill has put fitness concerns to rest ahead of the Sri Lanka Test series, returning to action in the final day of India's three-day warm-up match against a Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo and playing a fluent 44 off 54 balls.
Gill was hit on his right ring finger during a training session in Colombo and missed the first two days of the fixture as a precaution, with KL Rahul leading the side in his absence. He returned on Day 3 and put on a brisk 105-run opening stand with Yashasvi Jaiswal, striking seven boundaries before being dismissed by spinner Keshara Nuwantha.
India's spin-bowling coach Sairaj Bahutule confirmed the knock was purely precautionary and that Gill has been training normally throughout, with the captain fully fit and available for the series opener in Galle starting August 15.
