Beau Webster Eyes Permanent Test Spot Alongside Cameron Green Against Bangladesh

Australia all-rounder Beau Webster is determined to nail down a permanent spot in the Test XI as Australia begin a challenging home stretch with a two-Test series against Bangladesh, starting in Darwin from August 13.

The 32-year-old, who has played eight Tests since his debut last year, top-scored for Australia in the World Test Championship Final loss to South Africa at Lord's and later starred with 150 runs across two half-centuries during Australia's series sweep of West Indies. He found himself out of the XI during the Ashes against England but earned a recall for the series finale in Sydney, hitting an unbeaten 71 and taking three wickets.

With Cameron Green also in the 13-player squad, Webster has ruled out any rivalry between the two, insisting both can coexist in the same XI as batting all-rounders and give captain Pat Cummins added flexibility with the ball. Australia's squad for the series includes Cummins, Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Nathan Lyon, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Jake Weatherald, and Webster. The first Test runs August 13-17 in Darwin, with the second from August 22-26 in Mackay.
