Real Madrid have confirmed Ibrahima Konate has been diagnosed with a collateral ligament injury in his right leg, picked up while on international duty with France, with no recovery timeframe given yet.

The centre-back was forced to withdraw from France's squad ahead of their Nations League opener against Turkey, and has been replaced by Manchester United's Leny Yoro. Konate had made a strong start to life in Spain since his free transfer from Liverpool this summer, starting all seven matches he has featured in across all competitions.

Spanish outlet Sport reports the injury may not be as severe as first feared, suggesting Konate could return in as little as two weeks in time for the La Liga clash with Villarreal on October 10.
