Mumbai Indians Appoint Luke Williams as WPL Head Coach

Mumbai Indians have appointed Luke Williams as their new WPL head coach ahead of the 2027 season, replacing Lisa Keightley, who has moved on to become Cricket Australia's national development lead.

Williams arrives with a strong pedigree in women's franchise cricket. He led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their maiden WPL title in 2024 and stayed on for the following season, before stepping away to focus on his commitments with Adelaide Strikers, whom he guided to back-to-back WBBL titles in 2022 and 2023. He was also assistant coach when Southern Brave won the Hundred in 2023.

"I'm really excited to be joining Mumbai Indians, a respected and successful organisation," Williams said in a statement. Keightley will continue as head coach of Sydney Thunder in the WBBL. Williams' immediate task is finalising Mumbai's retentions ahead of the September 28 deadline, with the WPL 2027 mini-auction set for October 28 in Kochi.
