India Women Defend Kabaddi Gold With Final Win Over Iran

India's women's kabaddi team beat Iran in the final at the Tokai Citizen Gymnasium to defend their Asian Games title, continuing their dominance of the event since it debuted at the Games in 2010.

The two sides had already met once in the group stage, where India won 37-23, and India carried that form through an unbeaten campaign, beating Bangladesh, Iran and hosts Japan before a 48-24 semi-final win over Nepal booked their spot in the final. Iran reached the gold-medal match by beating Chinese Taipei 23-19 in the other semi-final.

The win extends India's record in Asian Games women's kabaddi to five finals from five editions since 2010, with their only defeat in a final coming against Iran at Jakarta 2018. Nepal and Chinese Taipei both took bronze after their semi-final defeats, under a format with no separate bronze-medal playoff.
