Thailand, China and Bahrain Share Sprint and Field Golds in Nagoya

The Asian Games athletics program produced a string of sprint and field event golds across the week, with China, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Bahrain and Oman among the nations topping the podium.

In the sprints, Thailand's Puripol Boonson won men's 100m gold with Oman taking both silver and bronze, while China's Yujie Chen won women's 100m ahead of Singapore's Shanti Pereira and Bahrain's Edidiong Odiong. Thailand's Joshua Atkinson added a men's 400m title ahead of the UAE and Japan.

In the throws and jumps, China's Abuduaini Tuergong and Nanjun Wu went 1-2 in the men's discus, Uzbekistan's Sukhrob Khodjaev won the men's hammer, and China's Wen Su topped the men's triple jump. Bahrain's naturalised stars continued their dominance in the middle distances, with Nelly Korir winning the women's 1500m in a Games-record 4:04.50.
