China Sweep Japan for Record 10th Asian Games Women's Volleyball Title

China swept hosts Japan 25-19, 25-20, 25-23 in the women's volleyball final at the Asian Games. It is their third straight Asian Games gold and a record-extending 10th title in the event.

China controlled the first two sets. Japan made its strongest push in the third. China held on to close it out 25-23.

The final came a day after a five-set semi-final win over Thailand. Thailand took the first set 25-23. China levelled with a 25-21 second set and led after a 25-11 third, before Thailand forced a decider. The match carried extra weight. Thailand had beaten China in the Asian Championship final just 22 days earlier. That win gave Thailand its first-ever Olympic berth in women's volleyball, for Los Angeles 2028. It also denied China a direct berth.

Japan reached the final with a 3-0 semi-final win over South Korea (25-20, 25-22, 25-16). Thailand won bronze after their semi-final loss.
