China Take Five of Eight Canoe Sprint Golds as Korea and Uzbekistan Share the Rest

China won five of the eight canoe sprint golds decided over the first two days of finals at the Asian Games. South Korea took two and Uzbekistan one.

China's golds. Shengyue Wu and Bowen Ji won the men's canoe double 500m. Ji then won the men's canoe single 500m. Shimeng Yu and Mengdie Yin won the women's kayak double 500m. Mengya Sun and Yanan Ma won the women's canoe double 500m. China also won the women's kayak four 500m.

Korea and Uzbekistan. South Korea won the men's kayak four 500m. Gwang Hee Cho and Hyobin Kim won the men's kayak double 500m for Korea as well. Uzbekistan's Shohsanam Sherzodova won the women's canoe single 200m, ahead of China's Changwen Shuai and Indonesia's Herlin Aprilin Lali.

Other medals. Uzbekistan took silver in the men's canoe double (Artur Guliev and Vladlen Denisov), the men's canoe single (Denisov), the women's kayak four and the women's canoe double (Sherzodova and Nilufar Zokirova). Kazakhstan's Sergey and Timofey Yemelyanov won men's canoe double bronze. Japan took silver in the men's kayak double and bronze in the men's kayak four. Iran, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam also won bronze medals.
