Uzbekistan and Japan won gold on the opening day of Greco-Roman wrestling at the Asian Games, with India's Sunil Kumar among the bronze medallists.

In the 67kg final, Uzbekistan's Aytjan Khalmakhanov beat Japan's Kyotaro Sogabe for gold, with Kyrgyzstan's Razzak Beishekeev and Kazakhstan's Meiirzhan Shermakhanbet taking bronze. In the 87kg final, Japan's Taizo Yoshida beat Kyrgyzstan's Asan Kurbanovich Zhanyshov for gold, with Uzbekistan's Jalgasbay Berdimuratov and India's Sunil Kumar sharing bronze.

Wrestling runs in a one-day format at these Games, with medal bouts held on the same day as qualification in each weight class. More Greco-Roman finals, including the 130kg category, are still to be decided, before the competition moves on to women's wrestling and freestyle later in the week.
