Zirkzee's Late Strike Sends Netherlands Top of Group A2 Past Serbia
Netherlands moved top of Group A2 with a 2-1 win over Serbia in Eindhoven, as Joshua Zirkzee's second-half strike settled a tight contest.
Teun Koopmeiners opened the scoring with a well-placed effort from the edge of the box, but Serbia levelled four minutes later through Mihajlo Cvetkovic, who headed home a cross from Aleksa Terzic. Xavi Hernandez's side dominated possession and chances throughout, and were rewarded when Zirkzee swept in the winner from close range after 72 minutes.
The win extended the Netherlands' unbeaten Nations League run to eight matches and moved them to eight points, level with Greece, who were held 0-0 by Germany on the same night. Serbia remain bottom of the group without a point from four matches.
