Ndukwe's 100th-Minute Equaliser Rescues Levante in Six-Goal Thriller With Sevilla

Levante and Sevilla drew 3-3 in a wild La Liga match at the Ciutat de València on Monday, October 12. Levante scored two goals in stoppage time, with the equaliser from Ifeanyi Ndukwe arriving in the 100th minute.

Sevilla had the best of the opening 90 minutes. They went ahead in the 13th minute when Ndukwe misplaced a pass and Scotland striker Robbie Ure pounced, rounded the goalkeeper and scored his first La Liga goal. Ure, 22, is a former Rangers forward who joined from Swedish side Sirius in the summer for about £5.5 million. He won his first Scotland caps in head coach Sebastien Pocognoli's first camp, and this was a standout display. He also set up the second goal, winning a header for Portuguese winger Félix Correia, who made it 2-0 in the 54th minute.

Levante replied almost at once. Iván Romero pulled one back in the 57th minute, and Ure was substituted nine minutes later. The home side still trailed 2-1 when stoppage time began, and Sevilla appeared to be heading for a win.

Then came the chaos. Adrián de la Fuente scored a stunning equaliser in the 92nd minute to make it 2-2. Sevilla went back in front within three minutes, when substitute Isaac Romero hit a thumping strike into the net. He was then sent off for a second yellow card for excessive celebration, which left Sevilla with ten men for the final minutes.

Levante used that to their advantage. In the 100th minute, a set piece into the box was not cleared by Sevilla, and Ndukwe struck from close range after a pass from Youssouf Fofana. The young Liverpool defender, who is on loan at Levante, had gifted Sevilla their opening goal. This time he made up for it in the most dramatic way possible.

Levante had 56.5% of possession over the match. The point leaves them 17th in the table with six points from eight matches. Sevilla stay fifth with 14 points, but they will feel they let two points slip away after leading for most of the evening and taking the lead again in stoppage time.
