Mandhana Stays No. 1 in Women's ODI Batting Rankings, Perry Climbs Into Top 10
Smriti Mandhana has retained the No. 1 spot in the ICC Women's ODI batting rankings. She sits on 790 points. Australia's Ellyse Perry has moved into the top 10 after climbing two places. She is now 10th on 650 points.
Mandhana leads by only eight points. South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt is second on 782 points. Mandhana was named India's captain in all three formats on October 6. She now leads the side and also tops the ODI batting chart. She has scored 18 international centuries, 14 of them in ODIs. That is the most by any woman.
There is movement just below them too. West Indies' Hayley Matthews has moved up from fourth to joint third. She is level with Australia's Beth Mooney on 731 points. Phoebe Litchfield is fifth on 727 points. Ashleigh Gardner is sixth on 696 points. Both are Australian. New Zealand's Maddy Green is seventh on 685 points. England's Nat Sciver-Brunt is eighth on 672 points.
The top five places are shared by four nations: India, South Africa, West Indies and Australia. Australia have four players in the top 10. They are Mooney, Litchfield, Gardner and Perry.
India's Harmanpreet Kaur is ninth on 652 points. That is just two points ahead of Perry. Perry's move up from 12th to 10th has pushed two players down a place each. Pakistan's Sidra Amin is now 11th on 648 points. Ireland's Amy Hunter is 12th on 644 points. India's Jemimah Rodrigues is 13th on 635 points.
Perry's rise comes during Australia Women's ODI series against Bangladesh Women. She made 26 not out in the first ODI in Brisbane on October 9. Australia won that match by seven wickets. The series ends with the third ODI on Wednesday, October 14. Sri Lanka's Harshitha Samarawickrama is 14th on 624 points. New Zealand's Amelia Kerr is 15th on 621 points.
