Session 1Sri Lanka resumed on 229/6, still needing to bat out the day to save the Test. Sonal Dinusha and Keshara Nuwantha carried on from where they left off, gradually wearing down the target of four more wickets India needed. Dinusha brought up an excellent hundred along the way, his second century of the match, before the stand was finally broken when Nuwantha edged Manav Suthar behind for 46, with the score on 330.
Session 2Prabath Jayasuriya joined Dinusha and the pair added a useful stand for the eighth wicket. Dinusha kept farming the strike and rotating well, easing the pressure whenever India threatened a breakthrough. Jayasuriya eventually fell for 2, caught off Ravindra Jadeja, with the total on 355, but by now the follow-on had been comfortably survived and Sri Lanka's position looked safe.
Session 3Lahiru Kumara held firm alongside Dinusha through the final session, adding a further stand for the ninth wicket before he too fell to Jadeja, caught at 402. With the match all but safe and time running out, Sri Lanka declared at 429/9, Dinusha unbeaten on 133 to go with his first-innings hundred. There was no time left for India to force a result, and the match ended in a draw. Dinusha was named Player of the Match for his twin centuries, and India took the two-match series 1-0 on the back of their innings win in the opener. Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 328 runs across the two Tests, was named Player of the Series.
