Prasidh Krishna Ruled Out of ODI Series vs New Zealand With Hamstring Injury

India pacer Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. The BCCI confirmed the news on Friday, October 30. He is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

Prasidh hurt his left hamstring during an ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati. His place in the New Zealand series was subject to fitness clearance. The BCCI said the right-arm pacer needs additional time to build up the workload required to be ready for matches. The board's statement did not name a replacement for him.

There is a plan for his return. Prasidh will join the India A squad for the third and final four-day game against New Zealand A. This depends on him clearing the Return to Play assessment. The match will give him some practice in match conditions. It will also help him get ready for the two-Test series that follows the ODIs.

The ODI series is the second leg of the India tour of New Zealand 2026. It starts on November 4 at Eden Park in Auckland. The second ODI is on November 7 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. All five games will be played in New Zealand.

Prasidh has been one of India's key white-ball bowlers in recent times. He is a tall seamer who hits the deck hard. He won the Purple Cap in IPL 2025 with 25 wickets for Gujarat Titans. That run took him into the national set-up as a regular option in the ODI side.

India's fast bowlers have been busy on the tour already. Arshdeep Singh, Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav all bowled for India in the fourth T20I at Eden Park on Friday. New Zealand won that game by 87 runs. India still lead the five-match T20I series 3-1. The fifth and final T20I is on November 1 at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

The injury timeline has not been shared in full. A hamstring problem for a fast bowler can take time to heal, so the team will not want to rush him back. Check the squads page for the full list of players, and follow the event page for the latest news.
