CSK Trade Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis to SRH for Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards
Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have completed a four-player trade ahead of IPL 2027. CSK announced it officially on Thursday, November 5. Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards move to Chennai. Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis move to Hyderabad.
| Player | Role | Moves to | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liam Livingstone | England all-rounder | CSK | ₹6 crore |
| Jack Edwards | Australia all-rounder | CSK | ₹3 crore |
| Khaleel Ahmed | India left-arm pacer | SRH | ₹4.8 crore |
| Nathan Ellis | Australia pacer | SRH | ₹2 crore |
The biggest story is Livingstone's fee. SRH bought him for ₹13 crore at the 2026 auction. He joins CSK at a reduced fee of ₹6 crore. That is a pay cut of about ₹7 crore. CSK will be his fifth IPL franchise.
Edwards moves at his existing fee. SRH signed him for ₹3 crore before he made his international debut for Australia. He could not play in IPL 2026 because of a foot injury.
Khaleel returns to a team he knows well. He played for SRH from 2018 to 2021. He played five matches for CSK in IPL 2026. A right quadriceps injury then ruled him out of the rest of the season. He joins SRH at his existing fee of ₹4.8 crore.
Ellis is known for his variations and his skill in the death overs. He joins SRH at his existing fee of ₹2 crore. He adds more T20 experience to their pace attack.
The trade also changes the purses of both teams. SRH's purse grows by about ₹9.20 crore. CSK's purse shrinks by about ₹2.20 crore. SRH will have more money for the mini auction.
CSK get two overseas all-rounders who can bat and bowl. SRH get more pace options. Both teams are using the trading window before the IPL 2027 mini auction on December 16 in Goa.
The season itself runs from March 10 to May 15, 2027. Follow the event page for more trades, retentions and auction news.
