Ankush Panghal Wins Gold in Men's 80kg Boxing at CWG 2026

Ankush Panghal won gold in the men's 80kg boxing final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, beating England's Dimeji Shittu after a strong fightback.

Ankush had a poor opening round against the home favourite but responded well, taking control of the contest with sharper combinations and better ring craft over the next two rounds to secure the gold.

The win was India's seventh boxing gold of the day and came in the penultimate Indian final of the session, adding to golds already won by Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, Sakshi Chaudhary, Priya Ghanghas, Arundhati Choudhary and Sachin Siwach.
