Sri Lanka's Nilakshika Silva Ruled Out of Asian Games With Fractured Finger

Sri Lanka have been dealt a blow ahead of the Women's Asian Games, with all-rounder Nilakshika Silva ruled out of the entire tournament after fracturing a finger, forcing a late change to their 15-member squad.

Silva's absence is a significant loss for Chamari Athapaththu's side, given her regular contributions with both bat and ball in recent internationals. She had already been left out of Sri Lanka's squad announcement alongside Vishmi Gunaratne and Chetana Vimukthi, but this latest injury news confirms her participation is off entirely. Teenager Chamudi Praboda, who impressed during Sri Lanka's run to the Women's Asia Cup final, and 19-year-old Rashmika Sewwandi have both been added to the squad as Sri Lanka look to bolster their depth.

Sri Lanka enter the Asian Games on the back of a runner-up finish at the Women's Asia Cup, having lost the final to India by 72 runs, and open their campaign against Malaysia on September 18 as they chase a first Asian Games cricket gold, having previously won silver at Hangzhou 2022.
