West Indies Name Shai Hope-Led Squads for ODI and T20I Series in India, Hetmyer Set for Later Return
West Indies have announced their squads for the white-ball tour of India, with Shai Hope continuing as captain across both the ODI and T20I legs. The tourists retain the core group that featured in their recent home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
John Campbell returns to the ODI squad after missing the final two matches against New Zealand with a hamstring injury. Jewel Andrew comes in as a top and middle-order batting option, replacing Ackeem Auguste, who is out of the tour while he continues his rehabilitation following August surgery.
Shimron Hetmyer featured in the last two ODIs against New Zealand but will sit out the early part of this series. He has been given an extended recovery period after the CPL and will link up with the squad only for the T20I leg.
The three-match ODI series doubles up as the West Indies' final push in the qualification cycle for the ICC Men's 50-Over World Cup, with the first two games carrying direct bearing on automatic qualification. It gets underway on September 27 in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by Guwahati and Mullanpur, before the five-match T20I series runs from October 6 in Lucknow through to October 17 in Bengaluru.
