Man City Fight Back From Two Down at Bayern, Inter Win on UWCL Debut

The Women's Champions League got underway with Manchester City staging a dramatic fightback against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan winning on their competition debut against Hacken.

City trailed 2-0 inside 28 minutes at Bayern, with Giulia Gwinn finishing smartly and Kerstin Casparij turning the ball into her own net. Beth Mead pulled one back just before half-time, and after Khadija Shaw missed a penalty that would have levelled things, City eventually found their equaliser through new signing Carlotta Wamser, left unmarked to score in the 86th minute. The result made City the first English side not to lose away to Bayern in Europe.

In Milan, Inter made a winning start to their first-ever league-phase campaign, edging out Swedish visitors Hacken 1-0.

Matchday 1 concludes on Wednesday, headlined by holders Barcelona hosting Paris FC and Chelsea facing debutants Austria Wien.
