Gulveer Singh Improves to Silver in Men's 10,000m at Asian Games

Gulveer Singh won silver in the men's 10,000m at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya, improving on the bronze he won in the event at Hangzhou 2023.

The 28-year-old clocked 28:29.38, staying with the leading pack through the 25-lap race before Birhanu Balew of Bahrain pulled away with a strong surge in the closing stages to retain his title in 28:27.51. Balew's compatriot Albert Kiptoo took bronze in 28:34.38.

A Naib Subedar in the Indian Army, Gulveer is the national record holder in the event at 27:00.22 and arrived in Nagoya on the back of a strong 2026, having already won 10,000m silver and 5000m bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. He also won both the 5000m and 10,000m titles at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships.
