Prachi Choudhary Wins India's First 400m Medal Since 2018 With Bronze

Prachi Choudhary won India's first Asian Games women's 400m medal since Hima Das's silver at Jakarta 2018, clocking 53.21 seconds for bronze behind a Games-record run from Bahrain's Salwa Eid Naser.

Naser won gold in 49.20 seconds, breaking her own Games record, with Iran's Zahra Zarei Manoujan taking silver in 52.38. India's other finalist, Kiran Pahal, finished fifth in 53.41.

The medal came on a golden day for Indian athletics, with the same session also producing shot put silver for Tajinderpal Singh Toor and marathon silver for Sawan Barwal, while Parul Chaudhary narrowly missed a medal in the women's 1500m, clocking a personal best 4:09.46 for fourth as Bahrain's Nelly Korir won gold in a Games-record 4:04.50.
