Esha Singh Wins 25m Pistol Silver After Shoot-Off Loss to China's Xiao Jiaruixuan

India's Esha Singh won silver in the women's 25m pistol at the Asian Games. She lost the gold to China's Xiao Jiaruixuan in a shoot-off in Nagoya.

Esha had a tough route to the medal round. She qualified for the final in eighth place with a score of 580-22x. She then needed several shoot-offs to stay in contention. She started the final with five hits from five shots. Xiao pulled ahead with consecutive perfect series. The two finished level after the regular final and went to a shoot-off for gold. Xiao hit three targets. Esha hit two.

North Korea's Kim Hyon Suk took bronze. Esha is the world No. 1 in the event and holds the senior world record of 43 hits, set at the Munich World Cup in May. She also won team gold and individual silver in this event at Hangzhou.

The individual medal came after a disappointing team final. India's trio of Manu Bhaker, Esha and Rahi Sarnobat finished fifth with 1727-56x. Manu missed the individual final too. She ended 11th in qualification on 579-18x. China won the team gold. South Korea took silver and Chinese Taipei took bronze.
