13-Year-Old Yu Zidi Wins Three Individual Golds at Asian Games

China's Yu Zidi, just 13 years old, won three individual golds at the Asian Games 2026. Each one came in a Games-record time. She was the standout swimmer of the meet in Tokyo.

She opened with the 200m butterfly on the first night, winning in 2:05.08. Her China teammate Chang Mohan took silver in 2:08.44, and Japan's Misa Okuzono took bronze.

On the second night she won the 200m individual medley in 2:06.10. That was an Asian record and a world junior record. Compatriot Yu Yiting took silver in 2:07.99, and Japan's Mio Narita took bronze in 2:10.40.

Her third gold came in the 400m individual medley in 4:28.56. Ke Wenxi of China took silver in 4:32.51. Narita again took bronze, in 4:33.45.

The three wins were a big part of China's swimming haul in Tokyo. The team won 30 of the 42 golds on offer.
