China Wins 30 of 42 Swimming Golds as Asian Games Pool Action Ends

China topped the swimming medal table at the Asian Games 2026 with 30 golds and 54 medals in total. Racing ran from September 20 to 25 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. Some 409 swimmers from 37 nations took part.

China's 30 golds matched its tally from Hangzhou. Its total medals fell from 62 at the last Games to 54. Japan finished a distant second with seven golds and 37 medals overall. That was an improvement on its third-place finish last time.

The other golds went to Hong Kong (2), South Korea (1), Bahrain (1) and Chinese Taipei (1). South Korea led the bronze count with 13 and finished with 20 medals. Singapore won three silvers and Kyrgyzstan one. In all, 42 golds were awarded across the 41 events, because the men's 100m breaststroke ended in a tie for gold.

The meet produced one world record, seven Asian records and 24 Asian Games records. The world record came from Japan's Shin Ohashi in the men's 200m breaststroke. India's 12-man squad finished without a medal.
