Singapore's Gan Ching Hwee Wins Three Distance Silvers Behind Li Bingjie

Gan Ching Hwee of Singapore won three silver medals in the women's distance freestyle events at the Asian Games 2026. She finished second in the 400m, 800m and 1500m. In each race she was beaten by China's Li Bingjie.

Gan's times were 4:06.81 in the 400m, 8:26.25 in the 800m and 16:00.45 in the 1500m. The 400m and 1500m swims were both new Singapore national records. Her silver in the 800m came on the final day of swimming.

Li won all three events in 4:02.71, 8:24.02 and 15:53.52. The 800m gold was her fifth of the Games. Japan's Ichika Kajimoto took bronze in all three distances. Her times were 4:07.45, 8:27.37 and 16:06.83.

The three silvers were Singapore's entire swimming medal haul in Tokyo. The country finished seventh in the swimming table with three silvers and no golds.
