India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Reach Asian Games Cricket Semi-Finals After Washouts

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have reached the semi-finals of the men's cricket competition at the Asian Games 2026 without a ball bowled in the quarter-finals. All four quarter-finals at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin were abandoned because of persistent rain. The higher-seeded side in each tie went through.

The first two washouts came on Monday, September 28. India's tie with Afghanistan and Pakistan's tie with Hong Kong, China were both abandoned. On Tuesday, September 29, the Sri Lanka vs Nepal and Bangladesh vs Malaysia quarter-finals met the same fate. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were the four seeded teams, picked on their ICC T20I rankings, so they moved forward.

Pakistan will play Bangladesh in the first semi-final on Thursday, October 1, at 5:30 AM IST. India, led by Shreyas Iyer, face Sri Lanka in the second at 10:30 AM IST. The winners meet in the final on October 3, and the losing sides play off for bronze the same day. The weather forecast for Nisshin is expected to improve for the semi-finals and the medal matches.

Bangladesh arrive with a solid Asian Games record. They lost the 2023 semi-final to India but won bronze by beating Pakistan in the third-place play-off. Their only men's gold came in 2010, when they beat Afghanistan in the final. None of the four semi-finalists has been able to practise because of the rain.
