Ishan Kishan's 80 Sets India T20I Record for No. 5 or Lower
Ishan Kishan set a new India T20I record with an unbeaten 80 against Sri Lanka in the Asian Games 2026 semi-final, the highest individual score by an Indian batter from No. 5 or lower in the format, surpassing the previous mark held by Manish Pandey.
Batting at No. 5, Kishan rescued India from a collapse with a 33-ball fifty before accelerating to 80 not out off just 46 balls, hitting five sixes and four fours at a strike rate of 173.91. He was dropped on 56 by Nuwanidu Fernando, but made Sri Lanka pay as India posted 169 for 7, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also chipping in with 38.
India's bowlers then ran through Sri Lanka, who were bowled out for just 45, their lowest-ever T20I total, as Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel took two wickets apiece. The 124-run win is India's biggest T20I victory over Sri Lanka and sends the defending champions into the gold medal final, where they will face Pakistan on Saturday, October 3.
