Neeru Dhanda Completes Golden Double With Trap Mixed Team Gold

Neeru Dhanda completed a golden double at the Asian Games, teaming up with Kynan Chenai to win the trap mixed team gold a day after her individual trap triumph, with the Indian pair setting a Games record in the final.

India had qualified fourth for the final, behind China, Qatar and Iran, before Dhanda and Chenai produced a record-breaking performance under pressure to take the title. China's Ying Qi and Yunong Sun settled for bronze with a score of 23.

It is India's first-ever medal in the trap mixed team event and the ninth gold of the Games for the country, with the nation's shooters now accounting for 15 medals in Nagoya. For the 26-year-old Dhanda, it caps a stunning few days that began with team silver alongside Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat, followed by her individual gold with a Games-record score of 28, and now a second gold in the mixed team event. Chenai, a veteran of the trap circuit, adds another Asian Games medal to a collection that includes individual bronze and team gold from Hangzhou 2023.
