India beat West Indies by 8 wickets in the 2nd ODI at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. West Indies posted a massive 405/7 in their 50 overs. India chased it down in just 43.3 overs and finished on 406/2. They had 39 balls to spare. The win gives India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

India won the toss and chose to bowl first. West Indies made the most of a flat pitch. John Campbell scored 101 off 68 balls. Shai Hope added 104 off 94 balls. Amir Jangoo then hit a fiery 114 off 77 balls. Three centuries in one innings gave the visitors a huge total. Indian bowlers shared the wickets but leaked runs. Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Gurnoor Brar took two wickets each. Prasidh Krishna took one.

India's reply was special. Openers Rohit Sharma and captain Shubman Gill attacked from the first over. They added 255 runs in 158 balls for the first wicket. India scored 92 runs in the first 10 overs. Rohit hit 101 off 75 balls with 10 fours and 6 sixes. He fell lbw to Jayden Seales in the 27th over.

Gill carried on and finished with an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls. His innings had 26 fours and 8 sixes. His strike rate was above 167. Virat Kohli made a quick 29 off 19 balls before he was caught by Sherfane Rutherford off Shamar Joseph. Ruturaj Gaikwad then scored an unbeaten 31 off 37 balls. He and Gill added 86 runs in 68 balls to finish the job.

West Indies bowlers had a tough day. Alzarri Joseph gave away 89 runs in 8 overs. Keemo Paul conceded 49 runs in just 3 overs. Seales and Shamar Joseph took one wicket each. India also got 22 extras, including 17 wides.

The series is now decided, but there is still one match to play. The 3rd ODI is on 3 October at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
