Japan's Kusuhara and Nakagawa Win Asian Games Men's Doubles Tennis Gold

Japan's Yusuke Kusuhara and Shunsuke Nakagawa won the men's doubles gold medal at the Asian Games 2026. They beat South Korea's Nam Ji-sung and Park Ui-sung 6-3, 7-6(4) in 1 hour 31 minutes at the Higashiyama Park Tennis Center in Nagoya on Friday, October 2.

The Japanese pair took the first set and then held their nerve in a tight second. Nam and Park pushed the set to a tiebreak, but Japan won it 7-4 to seal the title in front of a home crowd.

The silver is South Korea's only tennis medal of the tournament. Korea had set a target of up to four tennis golds, but their players went out in both the men's and women's singles. Nam and Park had reached the final a day earlier, beating Chinese Taipei's Ho Chen-jui and Hsu Yu-hsiou 7-6(3), 2-6, 11-9 in a match tiebreak. It extends Korea's run of men's doubles medals to two editions. Kwon Soon-woo and Hong Seong-chan won bronze at Hangzhou 2023.

South Korea has not won a tennis gold at the Asian Games since 2014, when Lim Yong-kyu and Chung Hyeon won the men's doubles title in Incheon.

The bronze medals went to Chinese Taipei's Ho and Hsu and China's Zhang Fumin and Zhang Tianhui, who lost their semi-finals. Uzbekistan's Khumoyun Sultanov has also secured a men's singles bronze. The tennis programme runs through October 3.
