India's Women's 4x400m Relay Team Wins Country's First Athletics Gold of the Games

India won their first athletics gold of the Asian Games, with Kiran Pahal, Poovamma MR, Prachi Choudhary and Vithya Ramraj winning the women's 4x400m relay in Nagoya.

Bahrain took silver and China settled for bronze, as the Indian quartet held off the field to the line. The gold comes after India's mixed 4x400m relay team had already claimed silver behind Bahrain earlier in the Games, with the men's 4x400m relay team adding bronze of their own.

Athletics has been India's deepest medal-producing discipline at these Games, with the women's relay gold joining a string of individual medals across the sprints, middle distance and field events through the week.
