Sujeet Kalkal Wins India's First Freestyle Wrestling Gold of the Asian Games

Sujeet Kalkal won India's first freestyle wrestling gold of the Asian Games, topping the men's 65kg podium in Nagoya.

The 23-year-old arrived at these Games as the reigning Asian champion in the category, having beaten Uzbekistan's Umidjon Jalolov in the final at this year's Asian Wrestling Championships in Bishkek. He had also won gold at the UWW Ranking Series events in Zagreb and Tirana earlier this year, arriving in Nagoya unbeaten in the category through the season.

The gold adds to India's growing wrestling medal count at these Games, after Sunil Kumar's bronze and Nitesh Kumar's silver in the Greco-Roman events earlier in the competition.
