Pranavi Urs Becomes First Indian Woman to Win Individual Golf Gold at Asian Games
Pranavi Sharath Urs became the first Indian woman to win an individual golf gold at the Asian Games, closing with a final-round 68 to finish at 15-under 265, one stroke clear of the field in Nagoya.
Pranavi carried a three-shot overnight lead into the final round but opened with a triple bogey on the third hole. She steadied herself with three birdies through the middle of the round, then held her nerve with crucial par putts on the final two holes to close out the title. China's Yin Ruoning took silver, with Singapore's Shannon Tan claiming bronze.
It is India's first individual women's golf gold at the Asian Games, improving on Aditi Ashok's silver at Hangzhou 2022, and the country's first golf gold of any kind since Shiv Kapur's men's individual title in 2002. Pranavi also combined with Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar to win silver in the women's team event, with China taking team gold.
