India name 15-man T20I squad for Zimbabwe tour
India have named a 15-man squad for their three-match T20I series in Zimbabwe, starting July 23 at the Harare Sports Club. Shreyas Iyer leads the side, with Tilak Varma named vice-captain, as India take a fairly young group into a short tour that doubles as an audition for fringe players ahead of the busier white-ball season later in the year.
The batting group has a mix of experience and youth, with Iyer joined by Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh and uncapped teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, while Ishan Kishan and Prabhsimran Singh will compete for the wicketkeeping spot. Shivam Dube headlines the all-rounder options alongside Suryansh Shedge and Harsh Dubey, giving the middle order some depth and flexibility.
The bowling attack leans on a fresh pace group of Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma and Mayank Yadav, with Varun Chakaravarathy the lone frontline spinner in the squad. All three T20Is will be played at the same venue, on July 23, 25 and 26.
Full squad: Shreyas Iyer (C), Tilak Varma (VC), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh, Ishan Kishan, Prabhsimran Singh, Shivam Dube, Suryansh Shedge, Harsh Dubey, Varun Chakaravarathy, Prince Yadav, Yash Thakur, Ashok Sharma, Mayank Yadav.
