India Name Squad for Two-Match Test Series in Sri Lanka
India have named their squad for the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, starting August 15. Shubman Gill continues as captain, with KL Rahul as his deputy.
The squad blends experience with a few fresh faces. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal add depth at the top of the order, while Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel give India two wicketkeeping options. Sai Sudharsan is also in the squad, subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav and uncapped left-arm spinner Manav Suthar lead the spin options on pitches expected to turn. Jasprit Bumrah is included but also carries a fitness tag, with Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar rounding out the pace attack. Saransh Jain completes the squad.
It marks India's first Test tour of Sri Lanka since 2017. The opening Test is at the Galle International Stadium, followed by the second Test at the SSC in Colombo, with both matches forming part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
