Priya Ghanghas Wins Gold in Women's 60kg Boxing at CWG 2026

Priya Ghanghas won gold in the women's 60kg boxing final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow. She beat Canada's Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh 4-1 on a split decision in a closely fought contest.

Priya conceded the opening round on a couple of judges' scorecards but stayed composed and gradually took control with sharp combinations and effective counter-attacks. The final round went 4-1 in her favour, with three judges scoring the bout 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27, and one judge scoring it for the Canadian.

She had to fight through a tough draw to reach the final, coming back from a lost opening round to beat Scotland's Niamh Mitchell in the quarter-finals, before a dominant 5-0 win over England's Lucy Kings-Wheatley in the semis.

The gold is India's fourth boxing gold of the day, coming after wins from Preeti Pawar, Jaismine Lamboria and Sakshi Chaudhary. It's a new record for Indian boxing at a single Commonwealth Games, surpassing the previous best of three golds.
